Short Bio
Dr. Shriram Srinivasarangan Rangarajan is currently working as a Professor and Head of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department at Dr. NGP Institute of Technology, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. Before joining the institution, he was associated with US-based consulting firms in India related to Power Systems at various levels as a Senior Lead Engineer and Manager. He has more than 15 years of combined experience in the Industry, R&D, and Teaching from the USA, Canada, and India. He has worked on several North American utility systems in the past. With great ebullience, Shriram has played versatile roles as an Engineer, Research Scientist, and Professor. In addition to this, he has also demonstrated Leadership roles both in Industry and Academia. Dr. Rangarajan holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Anna University, Chennai (formerly known as Madras), Tamil Nadu, India. He earned a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University, NY, USA. Dr. Shriram further received another Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Western Ontario, ON, Canada (also as a visiting student at the University of Waterloo, Canada). He obtained a Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University, SC, USA. Dr. Shriram has several international accolades including the first prize best paper award at a leading International IEEE Conference-49th North American Power Symposium, Morgantown, WV, USA, 2017 that brought a very big name to Clemson by competing with participants from several leading Universities across the globe. He has published more than 100 papers in reputed Journals and Conferences across the Globe. Dr. Shriram has received more than $USD 2,30,000 approx. as funding in the form of a scholarship for performing research towards his Master’s and PhD programs from Canada and the USA in the past. His industry experience includes working with MS Kennedy Corporation, NY, USA, London Hydro Inc, London, Ontario, Canada, and Duke Energy eGrid, SC, USA while working abroad. Dr. Shriram is an active collaborator in terms of research with Professors from Clemson University, SC, USA, Western Carolina University, USA, and University of the Ryukyus, Japan. Dr.Shriram was also working as a teaching faculty/Instructor at the University of Western Ontario, Canada and Clemson University, SC, USA. Dr.Shriram was associated with several reputed teaching institutions in India after 2018. Then he made a transition to industry to work with Enerzinx LLC., Bengaluru, India as Senior Engineer and Assistant Team Lead and further went on to play the role of Senior Lead Engineer and Manager with different consulting firms related to Power in Bengaluru and Chennai. Dr. Shriram is also currently serving on the Board of Studies with reputed institutions in India.
