Short Bio

Murali K, joined as Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Dr.N.G.P. Institute of Technology, Coimbatore has obtained his Bachelors of Engineering in Civil Engineering from VLB Janakiammal College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore in 1998, at under graduation he was honored as Best Out Going Student for the batch 1994-1998. He then continued his post-graduation from Government College of Technology, Coimbatore and obtained his Masters of Engineering in Environmental Engineering in 2000. After his post-graduation he started his career from April 2000 as Temporary Lecturer at Government College of Technology, Coimbatore. He joined as Lecture at VLB Janakiammal College of Engineering and Technology in the year 2001 and served there for four years. In the year 2005 he joined as Senior Lecturer in Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology, Coimbatore and involved himself in academic as well as administrative works. Subsequently, he obtained his Doctoral Degree from Anna University, Chennai in the Year 2014. Due to his sincere and hardworking nature he served in different positions at SRIT, promoted as Professor in the year 2014. He served as Academic Coordinator at SRIT from 2007 till 2022. He served as Controller of Examinations at SRIT from 2016 to 2022. He was he NBA coordinator a SRIT from 2013 and under his guidance all the departments obtained Accreditation status. He worked as Professor and Head, Department of Civil Engineering and Controller of Examinations at Dr.Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology from Jan 2022 to April 2024. He joined as Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, Dr.N.G.P. Institute of Technology, Coimbatore, during June 2024. Dr.Murali’s primary research interests relate to sustainable surface and subsurface water management, adsorption studies and Environmental Impact Assessment studies. He has contributed to the areas of Engineering Geology, Soil Mechanics, Environmental Engineering and Irrigation Engineering in his career. He has published 42 research papers in reputed journals and 6 paper in International and national conference. To his credit, he has published four books in the area of Environmental Science and Engineering, Climatic Change and Adaption, Sustainable Development and Green Technology and two Book Chapters. He received 7 Lakhs under AICTE RPS Scheme for the project title “Evaluation and Modelling of Particulate Matter and gaseous pollutants concentration and asses air quality in different zone in Coimbatore city.” He has generated Rs.4.45 lakhs through consultancy work at SRIT and Rs.2.5 lakhs at MCET. Member of many professional bodies and has organized several workshops, seminars, conferences and faculty development programmes. He completed more than 23 online certification courses through NPTEL, Coursera, edX, etc., He have visited University of Malaysia Perlis, Malaysia through mobility program.
