Short Bio
Dr. M. S. Kamalesh obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in 2010 from K.S.R College of Engineering and completed his Master’s degree in Power Electronics and Drives in 2012 from Sona College of Technology. He has 14 years of teaching experience spanning the broad domains of Power Electronics and Drives. He initiated his research career in 2017, focusing on DC–DC converters and their applications in DC microgrids. In 2018, he was awarded the Summer Faculty Research Fellowship Programme (SFRF) at IIT Delhi, where he carried out research under the supervision of M. Veerachary. In 2020, he received a SERB–Teacher Associateship for Research Excellence (TARE) grant worth ₹18.3 lakhs, in collaboration with NIT Trichy, under the mentorship of G. Saravana Ilango from the Department of Electrical Engineering. Further strengthening his international research exposure, he was awarded the prestigious SERB International Research Experience Fellowship (SIRE) in 2022, with a grant of ₹17.34 lakhs, to pursue collaborative research at Østfold University College, Norway, under the mentorship of Lucian Mihet Popa. At present, Dr. Kamalesh serves as the Project Director of an ICSSR-sponsored research-cum-survey project with a total funding of ₹20 lakhs. He is an Anna University–approved research supervisor under the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. His core research interests include: Power converter design and advanced control strategies Sliding Mode Control implementation EV battery chargers and cybersecurity in charging infrastructure Design and development of HIL and SIL platforms for EV systems Dr. Kamalesh has published 25 research papers in reputed journals and conferences in the areas of power electronics and DC microgrids. He has presented technical papers and posters at premier institutions such as IIT Madras, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Dharwad, NIT Patna, NIT Goa, and NIT Jaipur. He has also undertaken academic visits to France, Belgium, Italy, and Sweden as part of his international research and academic engagements.
